Home Automation for homes and businesses

A smart thermostat, a video doorbell or a keypad lock is a small job that makes a home or office easier to run. Most of them go in on the wiring and door hardware that's already there. What trips people up is the wiring behind the old device and the setup afterward. We handle both, and the app on your phone is working before we leave.

What's included

  • Smart thermostats installed and connected (Nest, ecobee, Honeywell and others)
  • Video doorbells on your existing doorbell wiring, with a transformer upgrade if the old one is too weak
  • Smart locks and keypad deadbolts, with codes set up for family, tenants or cleaners
  • Smart switches, dimmers and plugs
  • Wi-Fi security cameras mounted, aimed and connected
  • Smart garage door controllers
  • Failed or outdated smart devices swapped for new ones
  • Devices paired to your Wi-Fi and the brand's app, with a walkthrough of the basics
Buy the device you want, or tell us what you're after and we'll suggest one. Before we arrive, have your Wi-Fi name and password handy and the brand's app on your phone. A photo of the wires behind your current thermostat or doorbell tells us whether anything extra is needed.

Questions about home automation

Do I need special wiring for a smart thermostat?

Most smart thermostats need a common wire (C-wire) for steady power. Many homes have one and some don't. A photo of the wires behind your current thermostat tells us. If there's no C-wire, a power adapter kit or a different thermostat model usually solves it.

Can a video doorbell use my existing doorbell wiring?

Usually. Wired models run on the existing wires and chime, as long as the transformer puts out enough power. Many older ones don't, and we can replace it. Battery models skip the wiring entirely.

Will you set up the app too?

Yes. The device is connected to your Wi-Fi and the app before we leave, and we'll show you the basics, like changing a lock code or setting a thermostat schedule.

Is this useful for rental properties and offices?

Yes. Keypad locks and smart thermostats are popular with landlords and property managers. Lock codes can be changed between tenants without rekeying, and the thermostat can be checked and adjusted from anywhere.
